Jesus said, "I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one." (Ver.14-15) It was Messiah's declaration on behalf of us. It was, at the same time, Christ's hope for us. He doesn't want us to evade the fight against evil.
At the end of this chapter, Jesus prays for all belivers, including those who will believe. It is Jesus who works to make people believe. Verse 26 confirms that saying, "I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
When we say we are not of the world any more, Jesus gives the authority onto our lips.
